The framers are expecting bumper mustard production after exceeding the fixed farming target by 41.91 percent as the crop fields are now in full bloom everywhere in Rangpur agriculture region, official sources said, reports BSS.
The farmers have completed sowing of mustard seed after harvesting early variety Aman rice, vegetables and the blooming crop is growing excellent in favourable climatic conditions everywhere, including the vast char areas on the river basins.
Talking to BSS today, Horticulture Specialist of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Khandker Md. Mesbahul Islam said the farmers will start harvesting of mustard from the middle of next month.
According to DAE sources, the farmers have cultivated mustard on 44,705 hectares of land against the fixed target of bringing 31,502 hectares of land under mustard cultivation to produce 37,172 tonnes of the oilseed this season in the region.
