Housing and Public Works Minister Engr Mosharrof Hossain has said that the government will construct one of the tallest buildings in Asia in Purbachal. “We will construct a 130-storey iconic building in Purbachal. It will be one of the tallest buildings in Asia,” he said yesterday while delivering a speech as Chief Guest at the inauguration of Rajdhani Unnyana Kartipakkha’s (Rajuk) automation service for land use clearance (LUC) and construction permit (CP) at Rajuk Auditorium in the capital.
The minister gave LUC to Baitul Rahim Mosque of Dhanmondi online. As of now, online services have been made available only in Rajuk’s Zone 5 comprising Dhanmondi, Lalbagh and Azimpur areas. Automation of Rajuk has been financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and implemented by Technoheaven, a local software company.
Lauding Rajuk’s initiative, Mosharrof said, “All services should gradually be digitised to improve the quality of service to people. In this era, a city should be governed by smart systems. Purbachal will be a smart city. I have had talks with the Energy and Power Ministry and they have told me that the city of Purbachal will not have overhead wires and electricity poles. All wiring will be done underground,” he said.
Chairman of Rajuk, GM Zainal Abedin Bhuyiah, informed that in the first phase, the service has been made available only in Rajuk’s Zone 5. “We will monitor the progress and after every three months, we will gradually expand the service in other zones as well,” he said and added that Rajuk plans to digitise all of its services over time.
