BPA demands government posts for physiotherapists

The experts from Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BPA) expressed their strong appeal to create government positions for physiotherapists in local hospitals throughout the country. They have also appealed for establishing a college of physiotherapy and physiotherapy council so that more educated and skilled professionals can serve the growing demand in this sector.
Attending a seminar on ‘pain management’ held at national press club in Dhaka on 15 December 2015 organised by Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association, the experts also claim that physiotherapy as a treatment option is unique and safe.
Former caretaker government’s advisor Mr. Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury was present in the seminar as chief guest. Among others present at the meet were Mr. Golam Sarwar, editor of The Daily Samakal, Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Hossain Mehedi of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital, Prof. Dr. Iqbal Hasan Mahmood, president, World Association of Integrated Medicine (BC), Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Anwar Khan Modern Medical College, Prof. Brig. Gen. M. A. Mohsin, Kumudini Medical College Hospital, Prof. Hazera Nazrul, former Joint Secretary.
Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle. Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.
