A court here yesterday placed a man on a 10-day remand in connection with the Thursday’s bomb and gun attack on a temple in Kaharole upazila of the district, reports UNB.
The remanded was identified as Mosabbirul Haque, 28.
Senior Judicial Magistrate SM Rezaul Bari passed the order after officer-in-charge Redwanur Rahim of the Detective Branch (DB) of police produced Mosabbirul Rahim before his court seeking a 10-day remand in the case.
On Friday, police arrested Rahim from Singra forest area of Birganj upazila in connection with the temple attack.
The district’s superintendent of police Mohammad Ruhul Amin said Mozammel sought shelter in a house of the village around 10am.
As the villagers became suspicious over his movement, they encircled him and tried to catch him.
Sensing danger, the youth tried to flee from the area and opened fire at the villagers, leaving one injured.
At one stage, the villagers managed to catch him and handed him over to Birganj Police Station.
Earlier, on Thursday night, two people were injured as miscreants exploded a bomb and then fired gunshots in a temple, run by International Society for Krishna Consciou-sness under Dabar union in Kaharole upazila of the district around 8pm when the temple committee was in a meeting inside.
