Janmashtami, one of the major religious festivals of the Hindu community marking the birthday of Lord Sri Krishna, was celebrated here Monday with due religious fervour on a limited scale amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
To mark the day, a discussion meeting on “The life and ideals of lord Sri Krishna” was held on the Norasingha Zior temple premises at Borabazer in the district town under the sponsorship of the Hindu religious welfare trust of the religious ministry.
Additional deputy commissioner (general) Netrakona Abdullah –AL-Mahmud addressed the meeting as chief guest with the assistant director of the Hindu religious welfare trust, Netrakona Humayun Kabir in the chair.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by the president of the district puja celebration committee Mongal Chandra Saha Ray, president of Hindu, Bouddha, Kristan Oikya Parishad Advocate Sitangsu Bikash Acharya and general secretary of Norasingha Zior temple managing committee professor Ranjit Kumar Saha Ray.
Later, a special prayer was offered there under the auspices of the Hindu religious welfare trust seeking divine blessings for progress and prosperity of the nation and welfare of mankind.
