A sector commander level border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) was held at Ramgarh in Khagrachhari district on Thursday.
The border conference was started at 11am on Thursday and continued till 5pm BGB sources said. Khagrachhari BDR Sector Commander Colonel Sajjad Hossain led the Bangladesh side while Nodal Officer of Tripura BSF Frontiers DS Baroti headed Indian team. Indian sides pointed different issues like border crimes, smuggling and illegal trespassing of Bangladeshi citizen while Bangladesh sides urged visiting Indian team to stop border crimes such as smuggling drugs and wine. At the six-hour long discussion both sides decided to maintain peaceful co-existence for resolving the issues in a friendly atmosphere, Sector Commander of Khagrachhari BGB Colonel Sajjad Hossain told reporters.
Both teams are also assured of mutual steps to stop all sorts of unwanted activities on the borders with a view to ensuring peace in the border, he added.
Present at the meeting from Bangladesh side are 16-Ramgorh BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Jahidur Rashid, 51-BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Kamal Ahmed, 53-BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Reaz Ahmed Chowdhury and 54-BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Jalal Uddin while the Indian side comprised of Tripura Frontier BSF DIG (Ops) Sanjoy Yea Dev, Panisagor Sector's DIG DK Sharma, Teliyamura Sector's DIG Rajib Sinha, 14-BSF Battalion Commander Sindhu Kumar, 110-BSF Battalion Commander TT Parka, 10-BSF Battalion Commander AK Birdarthi, 7-BSF Commander Nabin Mohan Sharma and 74-BSF Commander HP Sohi.
