State University of Bangladesh (SUB) has recently undertaken a project titled Prantik Proser to create opportunities for higher education for rural and socially disadvantaged students, says a press release.
Under the project, various facilities are being provided to the students of the backward sections of the society. The main objective of Prantik Proser is to make support to the students of the rural backward classes who are interested in getting higher education, but deprived of higher education due to lack of financial resources. Under the project, the country is being divided into 32 groups and the work of collecting meritorious students under 32 groups is underway. There has already been a massive response to the project's activities. It is expected that a significant number of students will be admitted to the SUB under Prantik Proser during the current Spring Semester 2021.
Under the prevailing socio-economic structure of Bangladesh, students from affluent families are mainly studying in private universities. But the State University of Bangladesh is also interested in going beyond the conventional concept and involving the meritorious students of rural and semi-rural level in the higher education activities of the private universities and to this end its outreach activities are already underway across the country.
The Prantik Proser has been implementing under the co-ordination of Career Development Centre (CDC) of SUB while Dr A M Shamim, President, Dr Mahbubur Rahman, Vice President & Dr Md Anwarul Kabir, Vice-chancellor has been working as the main patrons and supervisors.
