The Civil Aviation Authority has been asked to prepare a specific drone policy in consultation with private sector airlines on their proposals and regarding their advantages and benefits, reports BSS. A recommendation to this effect was adopted at the 14th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban yesterday with its chairman Muhammad Farque Khan in the chair.
Members of the committee, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Prof Md Ali Ashraf, Md Aftab Uddin Sarkar and Rushan Ara Mannan attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that the Civil Aviation Authority has, by this time, prepared a polity on drone and work on finalising the drone policy is under process in coordination with Bangladesh Air Force and other organisations concerned.
It was also informed at the meeting that apart from the armed forces, any individual or any institution has to take prior permission from the Civil Aviation Authority for use of drone in any place across the country while prior permission of the Civil Aviation Authority and local police administration will be required for use of drone in other places where there are no airports.
The parliamentary standing committee also recommended the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry to take effective measures to procure, on an emergency basis, apparatuses for ground handling to enhance standard of services to air passengers at different airports across the country.
Chairman of Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited, additional secretary of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, managing director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority were present, according to a press release.
