‘Raganjali’—the first CD by Abraar Ahmed Tarik, one of the youngest violin artistes in the country, was released at a programme on December 4 at the premises of Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in the capital. Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor, Dhaka University was present as the chief guest at the programme. He encouraged the young generation of the country to keep up the tradition of classical music like Abraar in his speech. He praised Abraar and his brother Abir for their fabulous and flawless performances. Lt. Col. (Retd.) Abu Osman Chowdhury, Sector Commander of the Bangladesh Liberation War and Vice Chairman of Sector Commanders’ Forum– Mukti Juddho’71 were also present as the special guest.
Mustafa Faroque Wahid, Founder of Wahid Cultural Foundation and Music Academy, was also present at the ceremony. He was Abraar’s teacher, who trained him and brought him up to international standard. Besides, Alauddin Mia, Founder of Violinist Association of Bangladesh and Keya Chowdhury, Member of Parliament, among others, were present at the event. Ranjan Ghosh, a violin maestro form Kolkata, also attended the programme and performed solo and duet with Abraar Ahmed Tarik. Abraar also performed duet with his elder brother Abir in Sarod.
The programme was organised and managed by director and event consultant Bilkis Mansoor and her team from Creative Communication Ltd. To note, Abraar Ahmed Tarik performed at many events at home and abroad, including Calcutta School of Music in Kolkata in 2011 as a guest artiste. He is a student of ‘Wahid Academy of Music’.
