A court in Mymensingh sent a union parishad chairman of Gafargaon upazila to jail yesterday. Police on Saturday arrested Md Shahidur Rahman, chairman of Saltia Union Parishad and ex-president of BNP union unit from his Shulahashia residence in Gafargaon municipality and produced him before the Mymenshigh court yesterday. Rahman was an accused in an arson case filed with Gafargaon police station, said Tofazzal Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station. He was interrogated and produced yesterday afternoon before a Mymensingh court that sent him to jail, police said.
