Information Secretary Kamrun Nahar was given an emotional farewell Sunday marking her post-retirement leave (PRL) in meeting room of the Information Ministry.
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, in his speech, termed the outgoing secretary (Nahar) as skilled, efficient, compassionate and honest officer.
He said this officer of the information cadre was endowed with a clear idea about the world of information due to his rich working experience in most of the departments and agencies of the ministry. This was evident in her performance as the country’s first female information secretary, he added.
State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan said Kamrun Nahar left her mark of rare talent as an officer in the Information Cadre, the Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and the Secretary of Information and the first woman Principal Information Officer.
Nahar joined the BCS information cadre in 1984 and he is the spouse of Cabinet Secretary Khandakar Anowarul Islam.
In her speech, Nahar paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
She said the information minister and the state minister for information were always beside her during discharging duties.
She also thanked all officials and employees of the ministry.

The newly appointed Information Secretary Khaja Mia will join today (November 30).
