30 submit nomination papers for nine mayoral posts

Some 30 candidates submitted their nomination papers to the district returning officers on Thursday for the posts of mayor in nine municipalities in Bogra.
Bogra municipality: The mayoral candidates that submitted nomination papers are BNP nominated district BNP president and sitting mayor Advocate AKM Mahbubor Rahman, Senior Vice President of the district Awami League and Bangladesh Bar Council member advocate AKM Rezaul Karim Montu and Islami Okkiya Jot nominated Engineer  Samsul Haque.
A total 125 candidates for 21 word councillors and 33 candidates for seven women reserved seats have submitted their nomination papers.
Kahalu: The mayoral candidates are AL nominated Helal Uddin Kabiraj, BNP’s Abdul Mannan, and an independent candidate.
 Some 32 are vying for councillors and and 10 female for the reserved posts have submitted their nomnation papers in Kahalu.
Gabtoli: The mayoral candidates are AL nominated Md. Mominul Haque Shilu, BNP backed Saiful Islam Sayef, rebel candidate for NPP Sarker Abdul Hay and independent candidate Abdul Jalil Paikar. There are also 37 candidates for the posts councillor and 8 for female reserved councillor posts.
Shibganj: The candidates vying for mayoral posts are AL nominated Md. Towhidur Rahman Manik, BNP nominated Md. Motiar Rahman Matin, rebel candidate from BNP Md. Tajul Islam.
There 30 candidates running for the posts of councillor and 8 female candidates for the reserved seats.
Sherpur: The candidates who submitted nomination papers for mayoral posts are AL nominated upazila AL president and freedom fighter Abdus Sattar, BNP’s present mayor and poura BNP organizing secretary Sadhin Kumar Kundu, NPP candidate Abul Hossain Akash, Imran Hossen of Islami Andolon and independent candidate Rashel Mahmud.  There are 37 candidates for councilor posts and 12 for female reserved seats in the municipality.
Dhunut: Mayoral candidates are AL nominated Md. Shariful Islam Khan, BNP nominated ex-mayor Alimuddin Harun Mondal, rebel candidates from AL present mayor AGM Badsha and AL leader Al Ameen Tarafdar.
Some 28 candidates for councillors and 12 for female reserved posts have submitted nomination papers.
Nondigram: The mayoral candidates are AL nominated Md. Rafiqul Islam Pimku, BNP nominated present Mayor Susanta Kumar Santa, Mahbubur Rahman Rustom for JSD, rebel candidate for BNP Kamrul Hasan SiqqiqeeJuwel and independent candidate Fazlul Haque Kashem.
There are also 25 candidates for councilors and 10 for female reserved posts.
Sariakandi: The mayoral candidates are AL nominated upazila Awami League Secretary Alomgir Sahi Sumon, BNP nominated present Mayor Tipu Sultan, rebel candidate from AL ex-mayor Abdul Hamid Sarder and independent candidates -- Abdur Rashid Farazi, Kharshad Alam and  Jalal Uddin .Some 32 have submitted nomination papers for posts of councillor and 16 for female reserved seats.
Santahar: The mayoral candidates are AL nominated Md. Rashedul Islam Raza, BNP nominated present Mayor Tofazzal Hussein Bhutto and Jatiya Party (Ershad) Abdul Latif Siddiquee.
There are 28 candidates that submitted nomination papers for councilor post and 11 for female reserve posts in Santahar Municipality.
