The third phase of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) begins today in Dhaka. On the first day, Barisal Bulls will take on Sylhet Super Stars with Chris Gayle taking the field for the first time in the third edition of BPL. In the day’s other match, Dhaka Dynamites will face off Rangpur Riders. The six franchisees travelled to Chittagong after playing the first phase in Dhaka. In Chittagong four rounds of the tournament were held before it moved to Dhaka again.
The next two rounds of the BPL however would determine the four teams who will lock horn in qualifier and eliminator game in order to move into the grand finale. Comilla Victorians currently tops the point table with 10 points for seven matches. Although Barisal Bulls managed same number of points in six matches, they are placed behind Victorians on the basis of net run rate. Those two teams are almost through to the last four unless they produce gruesome performance.
Riders managed eight points in seven matches while Dynamites has six in six matches. Sylhet Super Stars are in bottom of the table with two points but they still could manage last four with four games are still left. Two teams among three-Riders, Dynamites and Super Stars are in line to be in the last-four race. Chittagong Vikings are placed above Super Stars with four points but they have just four points so far. They could challenge those three teams in moving to the last-four berth but defeat in just one match would completely ruin their hopes.
