2-day Khadi festival begins Friday

A two-day Khadi festival with an exhibition and Khadi-based fashion show will be held here on December 11-12 in an effort to rekindle the Khadi, handspun and hand-woven cloths, reports UNB. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Nur will inaugurate the event at Hotel Radisson to be hosted by Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB). Norwegian Ambassador in Dhaka Merete Lundemo and Defense Attaché at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka Brig J S Nanda will also attend it, said a press release on Saturday. Eighteen designers from Bangladesh and six designers from Kolkata will participate in the programme. The designers from Bangladesh are Mahin Khan, Kuhu, Emdad Haq, Chondona Dewan, Lipi Khondokar, Shoibal Saha, Biplob Saha, Mumu Maria, Hema, Farah Anjum bari, Sabana Ali, Humaira Khan, Shahrukh Amin, Tensing Chakma, Warnee, Raka Farah Diba, Samia Rofique, while that are from Kolkata are Debarun Mukherjee, Shantonu Das, Sangjukta Ray, Parmita Banarjee, Sayanton Sarkar, Rini Nayek. The Bangladeshi designers will adorn Khadi dresses with various Bengali motifs such as Nokshi Pitha, Shondesh, Hand fan, Sheetal Paati, Alpona Noksha.
