President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in separate messages, today greeted all concerned on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) and Peoples Engineering Day-2020 to be celebrated tomorrow.
The theme of this year’s Peoples Engineering Day is ‘Blue economy will bring prosperity.’
IDEB has announced the programme in line with the Mujib Year and the Golden Jubilee of Independence.
The formalities of Peoples Engineering Day-2020 and 50-year celebration of IDEB will start on November 8, 2020 and will continue till November 8, 2021, said a press release here.
In a message on the eve of the occasion, the President said this year’s theme of founding anniversary of IDEB, ‘Blue economy will bring prosperity’, is very time-befitting.
Bangladesh’s rights over a large area of the Bay of Bengal have been established and protected and the diversification of resources and sustainable management of this vast sea area can play an important role in building the much-anticipated developed and prosperous Bangladesh, he said.
The role of engineers and technologists of the country is very important to make the concerned development fast and sustainable, he added.
The head of the state said the government has adopted a multi-dimensional action plan to build a happy and prosperous developed country by 2041.
“Mega projects like Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Payra Seaport, Padma Bridge, Dhaka Metro Rail, Karnaphuli Tunnel, Elevated Expressway, Hi-Tech Park are being implemented. Today, the country is moving ahead on various indicators of socio-economic development, including Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, per capita income, foreign exchange reserves,” he said.
He said diploma engineers have the opportunity to make a significant contribution as skilled human resources in the implementation and management of the huge development works of the government.
He hoped that IDEB would sharpen the theoretical and practical knowledge of its diploma engineers.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the members of IDEB participated in rebuilding the war-torn Bangladesh in post-liberation period and the sacrifice of many engineers in 1971 are the glorious history for diploma engineers.
IDEB’s timely calls on issues, including implementation of Bangabandhu’s philosophy in the development in technical and vocational education for human resource development, incorporation of technology in politics in technology-minded nation-building, river protection, efficient management of water resources, protection of agricultural land and construction of planned urban and rural infrastructure have always inspired the people, the premier said.
She believed that IDEB’s 49-year-long journey of these technology-based philosophical calls will inspire past, present, and future generations.
Both the President and the Prime Minister wished the overall success of all the programmes of the Golden Jubilee of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) and Peoples Engineering Day-2020.
