RAB raid against fake currency nets six

In an operation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested six people, including a Pakistani, from the city for their alleged involvement in fake currency and human trafficking racket.
RAB also seized fake Indian currency worth Rs 1 crore, Tk. 6.24 lakh, a huge amount of US dollar, Pakistani rupee, UAE dirham, Saudi riyal, 21 passports and a large number of fake seals from their possession
Those arrested were identified as Pakistani national Abdullah, alias Selim, 42, Md Kamrul Islam, 28, Md Abu Sufian, 48, Md Jahangir, Md Abdul Khalek and Mohammad Rasel, 45. They were arrested from different areas of the capital on Thursday night and early Friday.
While addressing a press conference, RAB's legal and media wing director, Mufti Mahmud Khan, said members of the elite force picked up Abdullah, Md Jahangir and Md Abdul Khalek from the airport area around 8pm on Thursday.
The RAB officers also seized Rs 70 lakh Indian rupees, 21 Pakistani passports, seven Bangladeshi passports, a large number of seals of top officials and seal making equipment from their possession.
Acting on information given by them, RAB later arrested three others with Rs 30 lakh Indian rupees, five mobile handsets and currencies of several countries around 1:30am on Friday.
 Replying to a question, Mufti Mahmud Khan said RAB had so far arrested 1,700 people with fake currencies and 165 involved in human trafficking.
