A weeklong programme marking Bangladesh Railway (BR) started observing Railway Service Week-2015 across the country yesterday through various programmes aiming to increase the quality of services in railway for passengers, said a press release. Mohammad Moqbul Ahmed, general manager, Bangladesh Railway (East Zone), inaugurated the service week through a programme at Chittagong railway station around 7:30 am. The authorities are observing the week laying special emphasis on 19 services, including updating train schedules, keeping trains, stations, waiting rooms, and wash rooms cleaned, ensuring water supply in trains and stopping ticket scalping. Mofizur Rahman, divisional manger, Miah Jahan, chief operating superintendent, Harun-or-Rashid, chief mechanical engineer of BR (East Zone) were present, among others.
