299 file nomination papers 
in Chapainawabganj

A total of 299 candidates, including 23 for mayor, 212 for councilors and 64 for women councilors (Reserved), filed nomination papers in four municipalities of Chapainawabganj district to contest the upcoming municipal polls. Polls have been scheduled to be held on December 30 in Chapainawabganj, Shibganj, Nachole and Rohonpur municipalities of the district. Yesterday was the last date for filing nomination papers. In Chapainawabganj municipality, a total of 119 candidates, including 8 for the post of mayor, 85 for councilors and 26 for women reserved seats, filed nomination.
In Chapainawabganj municipality, the mayoral candidates -- Samiul Hoque Liton of Awami League, Ataur Rahman of BNP, Nazrul Islam of Jamaat-e-Islami as independent, Abdus Sabur of Jamaat as independent, Shahjahan Ali of Jatyo Party, Maolana Abdul Matin as an independent and Moniruzzaman Monir of Jatyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) --  filed their nomination papers. In Shibganj municipality, the number of candidates is 59. Of which 5 are for the mayoral post, 39 for councilors and 15 for women reserved seat.
Of them, the mayoral candidates are Moyen Khan of AL, Shofiqul Islam of BNP, Jafar Ali of Jamaat as independent and Karibul Hoque Razin rebel AL as independent and Imani Ali rebel AL as independent. In Nachole municipality, there are 61 candidates. Of which 7 are for mayor, 40 for councilors and 14 for women reserved seat filed nomination papers.
Of them, the mayoral candidates are Abdur Rashid Khan Jhalu of AL, Quamruzzaman of BNP, Towhidul Islam of JP, Rafiqul Islam of Jamaat as independent, Abdul Malek Chowdhury -independent, Amanullah Al Masud-independent and Aslam Ali rebel Al as independent.
In Rohonpur municipality, the number of candidates is 60. Of which 3  candidates will contest for mayoral post, 48 for councilors and 9 for women reserved seat.
Of them, the mayor candidates are Golam Rabbani Biswas of AL, Tareq  Ahmed of BNP and Mizanur Rahman of Jamaat as independent.
