Law enforcers in separate drives held 84 people from Satkhira, Jhenidah and Manikganj districts in the past two days. In Satkhira, a joint force of different agencies arrested 34 people, including three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, from different places of the district from Friday night to yesterday morning. Enamul Haque, sub-inspector of Special Branch, Satkira said a team of the joint force, comprising members of Police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh, conducted separate drives in eight upazilas of the district and arrested the 34, including three of Jamaat, on various charges. Police said the Jamaat men were arrested on sabotage charges. Among the arrestees, 10 are from Sadar, four from Kalaroa, three from Tala, five from Kaliganj, two from Ashashuni, two from Debhata, one from Patkelghata and seven from Shyamnagar upazilas. In Jhenidah, police arrested 44, including 11 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chattra Shibir and BNP, from different places of the district early yesterday. Police said among the arrestees four were activists of Jamaat, two members of Shibir and five BNP activists. Azbahar Ali Sheikh, additional superintendent of police in the district, said police conducted separate drives in six upazilas of the district and arrested them on various charges. In Manikganj, police conducted raids in different parts of the district on Friday night and arrested six BNP-Jamaat activists, including Joint Convener of Daulatpur Upazila Ulama Dal Abu Yousuf, 38, reports BSS.
