A young man was injured as police allegedly shot him after he violated a signal at Sabgram in Sadar upazila of Bogra yesterday, reports UNB. The injured was identified as Rubel Hossain, 30, a veterinarian and son of Abdul Jalil of Chanpara village in the upazila. Witnesses said a team of police setting up a check-post at Sabgram signaled Rubel to stop while he was passing by it on his motorcycle around 3pm. As Rubel tried to speed away ignoring the signal, police allegedly opened fire on him, leaving him injured. With bullet wounds to the right wrist, Rubel was taken to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Outraged by the incident, locals confined the policemen. On information, additional police rushed in and rescued the policemen from the confinement. Sub-inspector Miladunnabi, in-charge of Naruli Police Camp, said that police fired shots at Rubel as he tried to flee disobeying the signal. Meanwhile, a handcuffed accused was snatched from police by his family members at Azampur Kouratali in Akhaura upazila yesterday morning.
