A former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader was arrested along with three shooter guns, one foreign made pistol, 6 bullets and four magazines on Wednesday. He was identified as Saiful Alam Limon and an accused in a double murder committed in the city's CRB area in 2013 over submission of a railway tender. The Rapid Action Battalion-7 (Rab-7) in a raid at Highway Society at Limon’s Lalkhan Bazar resident also arrested three of his associates from the resident.
Limon, a former assistant-secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) central committee and is known as flower of city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin.  He was out on bail in sensational double murder in CRB area of port city. The other arrestees are: Saddam Hossain, Azizul Haque and Towhidul Islam. Lt Col Miftah Uddin Ahmad, Rab-7 Commanding Officer, said they arrested four people along with Limon at around 8pm on Wednesday from Highway Society at Lalkhan Bazar in the city. During the drive they also seized three shooter guns, one foreign made pistol, 6 bullets and four magazines, said the commanding officer. The Rab-7 commanding officer said in a press conference at Rab-7 Headquarters in the city yesterday that they arrested them defying political identity.
“The terrorists would not be given any kind of concession; we will arrest those who are involved in terrorism over tender submission in CRB area,” said the commanding officer. “Rab does not conduct any drive considering political identity of anyone” added. On June 24, 2013, two persons, including an eight years child, were killed while supporters of Limon and former Juba League central leader Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar were engaged in a gunfight in CRB area over submission of a railway tender. A court of Chittagong yesterday rejecting the charge-sheet of the double murder case ordered Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) for further investigation of the case. Metropolitan Magistrate Nowrin Akhter Kakon ordered to PBI for further investigation of the case.
