To present job opportunities to fresh graduates and newly retired armed forces personnel of the country, a two-day career event, “Career Fest 2015”, was held Nov 14-15 at RAOWA Convention Centre in the capital.
The event included job offers, spot interviews, seminars, workshops, career guidance, meeting sessions with prospective employers, resume appraisals and a ‘career clinic’ with skills assessment tests.
“This kind of career fest is really very important for us. As the present job market is very competitive, such an event offers good opportunities for us, and makes it easier to find a better job. I hope this kind of career fest will happen every year,” said Saiful Islam, a final-year student of Computer Science and Engineering at a private university.
The career festival was jointly organised by Retired Armed Forces Officers Welfare Association (RAOWA) and job portal, Jobsbd.com. Career Development Centre of Daffodil International University was a partner of the event.
Around 50,000 people visited the event over two days, where 2,000 fresh graduates were initially selected from walk-in-interviews, the organisers said.
“The career fest aims to create a bridge between students, job seekers and organisations. It will help fresh graduates to find their dream job, as well as employers to find the right candidate for a position. Also, retired defence officers will be able to look for suitable jobs at this event,” said KM Hasan Ripon, chief executive officer of Jobsbd.com.
“This career fest is an excellent opportunity for job seekers to find jobs, and for employers to select the right and competent candidates for their organisations. New graduates as well as retired army officers will be benefited through this event,” said Major M Tanim Hossain, chairman of RAOWA.
