Dhaka University (DU) has suspended all programmes and activities with regard to celebrations of Bangla New Year in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 outbreak in the country. A DU press release signed by Director of Public Relations Mahmood Alam yesterday said this.
Meanwhile, closure of the varsity’s administrative activities has also been extended till April 11 in line with a recent government decision (April 10 and 11 automatically added being regular weekly holidays). Previously, DU had suspended classes and exams from March 18 to March 31.
Meanwhile, the DU Teachers’ Association (DUTA) announced to donate the sum of two days’ salary from all the DU teachers to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
In another development, the DU Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) on Wednesday requested the university authorities to donate the allocated unused expenditure deriving from each of the 18 DU halls marking the celebrations of Bangla New Year to the PM’s fund.
