A collaborative and interactive performance titled ‘Raag Rang’ portraying Raga Khamaj on canvas, which was scheduled to be presented today, has been postponed for an indefinite period due to coronavirus outbreak in the country. The performance was included as part of week-long solo exhibition titled ‘Serenading Soul’ by artist-journalist Zahangir Alom from March 18 to 26 at Dhaka Gallery in the capital’s Banani area.
Eminent vocalist Aloke Kumar Sen, three prominent instrumentalists—Firoz Khan (Sitar), Yusuf Khan (Sarod), Sabuj Ahmed (Tabla) and five celebrated dance artistes—Snata Shahrin (Kathak), Rachel Priyanka Perris (Gaudiya) Sudeshna Swayamprabha (Manipuri), Arthy Ahmed (Bharatanatyam) and Alka Das Pranti (Odishi) are the participants in the performance.
“Mainly, the performance was scheduled to be held on March 20, but when the country reported its first death from coronavirus, we shifted the performance to March 26. But as the situation is getting worse day by day, so we postponed it for an indefinite period”, said Zahangir Alom.
