Former BCB GS Reza-e-Karim dies

Former General Secretary of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Reza-e-Karim breathed his last in the early hours of yesterday morning in the capital. He was 82.

He has been under treatment for cancer and other health hazards at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital for a long period of time.

Reza Karim along with late Syed Altaf Hossain supervised the first international match between Bangladesh and MCC in 1976-77 at the then Dhaka Stadium. Both of them secured first class umpires status from MCC. He also used to play for Agrani Bank in the first division cricket league for a  long time. His namaz-e-janaza was held yesterday at Baitush Sarak Mosque, Monipuri Para. He will be buried at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in Mirpur.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed its deep bereavement at the passing away of Reza-e-Karim and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.

He was the secretary of the BCCB when the first constitution of the Board was drafted in 1976-77.
