Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) may postpone the next few rounds of the games of the ongoing Bangabandhu-Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League despite having interests of the players and clubs to continue it amid the threat of the epidemic coronavirus after the postponement of the second round of games of the country’s prestigious club cricket league.
For this, the players have to stay out of cricket for the next few days. But the players are reluctant to remain idle, having no games after the postponement of the second round of games.
The cricketers started working on their fitness for which a string of players including national team players and other players were seen doing on their fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.
While batsman Mohammad Mithun, spinner Taijul Islam, Nayeem Islam were running, cutter-master Mustafizur Rahman and U-19 World Cup winning all-rounder Shamim Hossain Patwary were working on fitness at the gymnasium along with other some players of the premier league.
Cricketers were waiting for the decision of the board for how many days, the games were being postponed. Henceforth, they will devise their plan for the next course of action whether they will go home village or remain in Dhaka.
Pacer Mustafizur Rahman said they should all work on fitness if there is no game at all.
“I think we should all run. If we go home, we’ll not get people in that way. Around four-five people are needed to do something in practice. Someone is needed to bowl. Actually I will try to do running and fitness,” Mustafizur Rahman said.
“Still there is no such decision for how many days the games will be postponed yet again. Thereafter, it will be prepared for me,” said Mohammad Mithun.
Pace all-rounder Soumya Sarkar echoed the sentiment like the other players on the issues of fitness and postponement of the DPL games.
