81 BNP men sued over AL office attack

A case was filed against 81 BNP activists at Sonatala police station of Bogura in connection with the attack of district Awami League office.  

Joragacha Union Awami League President Abdul Momin filed a case with Sonatla Police Station. Hamidul Islam Litu, the organising secretary of the union BNP, was made the main accused in the case.

According to the case, the attack was carried out at the Hatkarmaja office of the Awami League on March 7 Wednesday. The plaintiff of the case said several cocktails were exploded at that time and the accused vandalized AL office furniture. Regarding the case, BNP leader Litu told reporters that he or any of his organisation was not involved in cocktail attacks, vandalism and beatings at the Awami League office.

Sonatla Police Inspector (Investigation) Zahid Hasan confirmed the truth of the case and said, "An investigation is underway on this matter. After the investigation, legal action will be taken against those involved.”

Man drowns in Munshiganj trawler capsize

UNB, Munshiganj

A man drowned on Tuesday as a trawler capsized in Shitalakshya River after being hit by a sand laden bulkhead near Metrosem cement factory in the district.

The deceased was identified as Masud Rahman, 37, son of Abdur Rahman Khalifa of village Dighirpar in Tongibari upazila.

Newaz Uddin Ahmed, In-charge of Mukterpur Police out-post, the Barishal bound trawler with four people onboard capsized after being hit by a sand laden bulkhead in the morning.
