Paying tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, theatre troupe Dreeshokabbo will stage two shows of its new production titled ‘Bagh’ today at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital.

Written by the Nasreen Mustafa, the play has been directed by Irene Parvin Lopa.

The play is based on the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his tiger. Apparently, while visiting Bandarban on a state visit, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was gifted a tiger cub by the people living in the area. Returning to Dhaka, Bangabandhu gave the baby tiger to the capital’s zoo. The tiger was later known as ‘The tiger of Bangabandhu’.

After, the death of Bangabandhu and his family, the tiger was also taken into custody and put into a jail in the basement of the zoo and was tortured. Later, after the death of the tiger, people still hear it roaring in the basement as if it is alive like Bangabandhu, who is still alive in his people.
