Marking the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the nation is set to celebrate the inauguration of Mujib Year today. As part of the celebration, a 45-minute theatrical choreography will be aired tonight at 8pm on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
Performed by over one hundred artistes and technicians, the production has been researched, scripted and directed by Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky. The advisory panel of the production includes National Professor Dr Rafiqul Islam, Asaduzzaman Noor and Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury.
‘Shatabdir Mahanayak’ depicts the different stages of Bangabandhu’s life. The various segments of the choreography feature Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from child to Bangabandhu, leader to father of the nation, activist to poet of the politics, leader of the masses to the world leader, fighting and revolting Mujib of childhood, adolescence and youth, miserable history of 23 years: imprisonment of 3053 days and others. Also, the production sheds light on the dream, fight and ideals of Bangabandhu.
On the other hand, different socio-cultural and political organisations from grassroots to national levels, ministries and divisions have drawn up programmes to celebrate the birth centenary opening.
