Shakib calls for awareness
against coronavirus

Around eight people  across the country have so far been detected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). A few hundred people have been quarantined at their homes. In this situation, it is important to raise mass awareness to prevent the spread of the lethal virus in the country.

Former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has drawn public attention to the threat posed by the deadly virus. In a message on his verified Facebook page, the all-rounder has urged everyone to be careful and remain alert to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“In the light of the recent events across the world, we must take necessary safeguards against the coronavirus outbreak,” Shakib wrote, uploading a logo of the deadly virus.

“Let’s look after ourselves with basic sanitary steps and be considerate of others around us. Stay safe and stay positive!” he added.

Amid the threat of the new virus of COVID-19, Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for the 2019-2020 season is going on in full swing at three different grounds in Dhaka and its adjacent areas.

The handshake, hugging and chest bump celebration in the prestigious club cricket league of the country has been prohibited but cricketers were seen doing handshakes forgetting the prohibition.

However, Abahani captain wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim said that every player has an effort to stay alert about the coronavirus.

“To be honest, we forget our habit. Actually we still do not make it a habit. Everybody is worried about it and is in fear,” Mushfiqur Rahim said.

“There will be effort for us to be careful and aware as much as possible. Everybody is trying to stay alert. We are trying to ensure that we can continue our game and how much we can stay safe and aware of it,” Rahim told media.
