Propaganda on over Indo-Bangla relationship: Gowher

Dr Gowher Rizvi

Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi yesterday alleged that a clique inside the country is spreading propaganda over Bangladesh-India relationship, reports UNB. “There is a propaganda about Bangladesh-India relationship in our country till now. A group is spreading falsehood over the relationship. When BJP had come to power in India the group started to say the good relation between the two countries will no longer continue .But it didn’t happen,” he said “The relation between the two countries does not rely on change of government. The relation depends on the mutual respect and interests,” he added. Rizvi came up with the remarks while addressing a discussion jointly organised by Bangladesh India Citizen Society (BICS) and National Freedom Fighters Foundation (NFFF) at the Jatiya Press Club. Terming Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh a historical and significant one, the Advisor said some agreements on power plants will be signed on the very first day of the visit. Dr Rizvi said through a treaty with India Bangladesh will bring back the mortal remains of the martyred freedom fighters who had died in Indian side and will give them state honor. On the other hand, Bangladesh will pay homage to some 1500-1800 Indian soldiers who had died during the liberation war. Observing that Teesta treaty might take some more time Rizvi hoped that various bilateral unsettled issues, including Teesta water sharing agreement, joint-river disputes etc will be solved soon if the relation continues and citizens from both the countries will be benefited from this warm relation. Chaired by former Minister Mostafa Faruque Mohammad, among others, Nazmul Haque Prodhan MP also spoke on the occasion.
