Key share price index at the country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced loss while port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained on Monday..
The DSE key index, DSEX dropped 11.71 points or 0.25 percent to close at 4585.11 on the day. Of the 313 issues traded, 94 gained, 186 declined and 36 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 586.29 crore changed hands at the DSE on Monday which is Tk 155.64 crore higher than the previous trading session. Tk 430.65 crore was traded on Sunday.
Analysing the day’s capital market, LankaBangla Securities said, “Market moved about in a directionless manner on Monday, reacting to mostly mix economic data and cascading effect of excess liquidity in the money market due to low credit demand and a slight boost in the flow of foreign investment.”
Citing Bangladesh Bank data, the stockbroker said Balance of Payment (BoP) widened by 67.45 percent to $1.97 billion in first quarter of 2015-16 as exports grew by only 0.75 percent, whereas imports declined by 8.53 percent.
“Today on equity market, stocks set for an uncertain start with notable move above 4600 mark in the morning session, however cautious mind of investors brought on some correction in market at the end”, added LankaBangla.
Olympic Industries topped the top 10 losers list at Dhaka bourse while other companies were Hamid Fabrics, Modern Dyeing & Screen Printing, BD Autocars, Gemini Sea Food, Generation Next Fashions, Kay and Que, Reliance Insurance, Apex Foods and Hakkani Pulp & Paper.
The top five turnover leaders at the DSE were Simtex Industries, Beximco Pharma, Olympic Industries, Saif Powertec and Ifad Autos.
Top five gainers at the DSE were Janata Insurance, MJL Bangladesh, Olympic Accessories, Quasem Drycells and Asia Pacific General Insurance.
The key index at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), CASPI gained 44.55 points to reach 14016.86 at close on Monday. Of the 240 issues traded, 113 advanced, 105 suffered loss and 22 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues at the port city bourse was Tk 45.86 crore on the day.unb
