DUMUNA holds programme on ‘Mujib Barsha’

Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA) organised a week-long programme with the theme ‘Role of Bangabandhu: Diplomatic Moves and Negotiation in International Politics’ to celebrate the ‘Mujib Borsha’, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The programme began on March 11 and will end on March 17 by paying homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through placing wreath at his portrait on Dhanmondi 32 no road. All students of University of Dhaka are allowed to participate in this program and competition, said a press release. The program will feature study circle, discussion and presentation of papers on Bangabandhu’s role in diplomatic moves and negotiation in international politics. Following the study circle and discussion, participants will submit their papers on the theme on March 13 and 14 while prize-giving ceremony will be held on March 16. DUMUNA believes that through the program, students will come to know about Bangabandhu’s contribution to diplomacy and international politics to make a country independent, sovereign and prosperous.
JU VC’s book ‘Women’s Work’ unveiled

Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Farzana Islam’s book ‘Women’s Work, Gender and Kinship’ on the adaptation and lifetime struggle of women was unveiled on Tuesday. AH Development Publishing House published the 326-page book that was launched in a ceremony at the Kabi Sufia Kamal auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in Dhaka, said JU Public Relation Office. Former chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) and Urban Planner Professor Nazrul Islam presided over the book launching ceremony. Political scientist Dr Nasim Akhtar Hossain, Anthropologist Mohammed Nasir Uddin, Sociologist Khandaker Sakhawat Ali and gender specialist Salma A Shafi spoke at the programme among others.
