National Film Award-winning actress Tamalika Karmakar is set to work in a new film titled ‘Priyanka’, directed by Nazmuf Shakib Ahmed. The actress has been finalised to play the title role and DhakaLive has news that the shooting of the upcoming film will begin sometime around March-April next year. The story of ‘Priyanka’ will centre on a modern, well-off and established young woman. Regarding her role, Tamalika said, “My character is quite a challenging role. I was really enthusiastic to do the work for the film after reading its story. I am truly excited and joyous that after many years I have received an opportunity to act in my preferred type of commercial film” As exciting as it is for the talented actress, director Nazmuf Shakib Ahmed expressed that the type of actress that would be most fitting to take up the role of Priyanka, Tamalika was the most appropriate. To note, Tamalika Karmakar received the prestigious National Film Award for her role in Kittonkhola. Her first film appearance was through the film ‘Onno Jibon, directed by Sheikh Niyamat Ali. From there she appeared in various films such as ‘Mitthar Raja’, ‘Ey Ghor Ey Sangsar’, ‘Kittonkhola’ and in Humayun Ahmed’s ‘Ghetu Putro Komola’. She is also being regularly seen in the ongoing drama serials on various television channels.
