Asraf Ali Khan Khasru, State minister for Social Welfare, on Wednesday said that the incumbent government is providing allowances to old-age people, widows and the disabled people to ensure their welfare.
"Old-age cards, widow cards and disability cards were issued so to bring change in their lives" he said while speaking at a meeting, organised by District Social Welfare Department, Netrakona, held at the premises of Mougati Union Parishad under sadar upazila.
Through these initiatives, elderly people, widow and the disabled people have been enjoying benefits since the current government came to power, he said adding that the government introduced allowance for the elderly people, widows and disabled people.
The state minister warned the UP members and the chairmen not to get involved in malpractice while issuing allowance cards for the old age, widows and disable people as the government has already declared zero tolerance against corruption.
A total of 101 old-age persons, 123 disabled people and 59 widows got allowance benefits.
