Dy secretary found dead

Police recovered the decomposed body of a deputy secretary of labour and employment ministry from his residence in Bailey Road area of the capital on Wednesday night. The deceased Abdul Kader Chowdhury, 60, hailing from Bhola,  was living alone at government officers’ quarter (building no-1/15). Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramna Police Station, said police recovered the body from the flat and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy. Police suspected that he might have died of illness several days ago.

Abdul Kader went to work for the last time on Wednesday last week. Ministry officials contacted the police after he did not show up at work for a week, OC said. He was also detached from his family, the officials said adding that, “We are investigating into the matter and trying to reach his family”.  Locals informed the law enforcers that they were suspecting something wrong as a strong odour was coming from the house, the OC said.
