After nine years of murder of a man, members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) yesterday arrested three fugitive accused in the sensational murder case. The victim Sujon, son of Abdul Mannan, was murdered in 2011 and his body was recovered from a canal. The specialised investigation unit arrested the trio, including mastermind behind the murder. The arrested were identified as Asma Akther Eva, 32, ex-wife of the victim and the main accused, her two brothers Md Ariful Haque Arif, 32 and Md Rana Babu, 24.

Bashir Ahmed, Special Police Super of PBI north confirmed the arrest of trio. PBI Dhaka north team arrested Eva on February 29 from Cumilla and others on March 1 from Narayanganj. In a press statement PBI said that on March 14, 2011 Sujon and his friend Kuti went out from the home and did not return. Later, the family members of Sujon have been informed that a decomposed body was found in Shabujbagh area of the capital.  On March 18, Shabujbagh Police Station recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Later, Abdul Mannan filed a case against the arrestees with the same police station.

Later Detective Branch (DB) of Police investigated into the murder and after seven years they submitted the report before the court and the court relieved them due to proper valid documents. Abdul Mannan, later filed no confidence petition and the court ordered PBI to investigate the murder.

 PBI police Super Mina Mahamud started the investigation and identified the location of Eva with the help of digital device and arrested Eva from Cumilla. Later, based on her information, they also able to arrest the others from Narayanganj.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees said that Eva was married to victim Sujon in 2008 and divorced him in 2009. Even before Sujan's marriage, a local man Faizul liked Eva. He was also best friend of Eva’s brother Arif.

Faizul used to come to Eva's house. Sujon did not take it easily and once he beat up Faizul and Arif. Faizul beat up Sujan seven days before the murder. Later, Arif and Faizul planned to kill Sujan and also involved their friends Kuti and Babu. According to their previous plans they strangled Sujan and beat him mercilessly. After a while, Sujon fell to the ground and died. Confirming the death, they dumped the body to nearby canal.
