Four new witnesses including two policemen yesterday testified in the case lodged over Publisher Faisal Arefin Dipon murder in 2016. The witnesses are Dipon’s elder sister Suchita Sharmin, police inspector Anarul Islam, constable Ramjan Ali and customs and vat employee Abdul Hanif.
Later, they were cross-examined by the defence. Judge Mujibur Rahman of Anti-Terror Tribunal then adjourned the hearing till March 16. The tribunal on October 13, 2019, framed charges against eight members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in the case.
The tribunal on March 19, 2019, accepted the charge sheet filed in the case and issued arrest warrants against fugitive accused ABT leaders sacked army Major Syed Ziaul Haque and Akram Hossain. Investigation Officer and Assistant Police Commissioner of Detective Branch Fazlur Rahman on November 15, 2018, submitted the chargesheet against the eight accused.
