Customs Intelligence in cooperation with a vigilance team of National Security Intelligence (NSI) arrested three people and recovered 830 cartons of contraband cigarettes from Shah Amanat International Airport, Chattogram yesterday morning. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) team nabbed the trio, all are residents in Fatikchari upazila of the district, while they were landing at the airport from Sharjah of Abu Dhabi by an Air Arabia flight with these cigarettes around 8.45 am, airport sources said.

Assistant Commissioner of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Mohammad Readul Islam said the cigarettes worth about Taka 16.6 lakh were recovered from their possession and handed over those to the airport customs for taking necessary action.
