The first day players’ draft for the upcoming 2019-2020 Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division League (BDPDCL) held at the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) office at the SBNCS in the capital yesterday.
A total of 54 players inked their respective deals for eight different teams while Abahani Limted, Prime Bank Cricket Club, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Partex Sporting Club, Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity. Mohammedan Sporting Club and Old DOHS roped in 6, 9, 5, 4, 12, 7,10 and 1 players respectively on the first day players’ draft.
The CCDM abolished the controversial ‘Players by Choice’ system after the players opted to sign directly with the clubs for this season.

Before the players’ draft held yesterday, it was already reported that the Tigers’ ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (played for Abahani in previous edition) will feature for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club this season.
National team opener Tamim Iqbal and wicket-keeper cum batsman Mushfiqur Rahim have signed deal with Prime Bank and Abahani Limited respectively
All-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad and U19 captain Akbar Ali, who earlier played for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and BKSP respectively, penned deal with Gazi Group Cricketers Club this season. National team Test skipper Mominul Haque switched from Legends of Rupganj to Gazi Group.
