At least five students have been injured in a clash between two groups of Dhaka College and City College. The clash took place in the capital’s Science Laboratory area around 11 am yesterday. The injured, all students of Dhaka College, have been identified as Tanvir, Nihal, Rahat, Soyad, and Safian. All of them are first-year students of the HSC batch. Among them, Soyad is said to be in a critical condition.
Bacchu Mia, inspector at the Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) outpost, confirmed that some students had been injured and were rescued by other students, and admitted to the Hospital.
“Nehal has been stabbed in the back and legs. Soyad has been stabbed in the belly. Both are in a critical condition. Others also have injury marks but not like them,” he said.
The cause of the clash could not be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
Prof Nehal Ahmed, principal of Dhaka College, said he had rushed to the hospital after hearing about the incident.
“Five of our students have been injured. One of them has gone home after treatment. Three are admitted to the DMCH and another has been transferred to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital (SSMCH). Two are in a critical condition,” he added.
He also said that the students were going back home after college. They were attacked at the Science Laboratory area. “We are trying to find out more about the incident,” he added.
