The opening ceremony of the upcoming Twenty20 tournament of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will take place at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) with huge fanfare and festivity today. The ceremony will start at 4:30pm. The ceremony will be enlightened by the presence of Bollywood heartthrob superstar Hrithik Roshan, who is expected to arrive in Dhaka today  in his first ever visit to Bangladesh. Hrithik will also be accompanied by Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandes and popular Indian playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath (KK). The latter has already reached the capital. Apart from them, popular local artists will entertain the crowd.
DBP Group, a diversified conglomerate with a strong backward linkage in the Textile Sector of Bangladesh, became the title sponsor of the opening ceremony.  
Sheikh Sohel, chairman of the BPL opening ceremony, reveled this at a press conference at Apparels Club Limited at BGMEA bhavan in the capital yesterday.
“To mark the opening ceremony of the BPL, we, the organisers, have earmarked a budget of Tk 3.50 crore to bear the expense of the entire programme. The sponsor company is bearing the lion’s share of the expenditure,” Sohel told the media.
“We have taken all the necessary steps to make the gale opening ceremony of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the current edition successful. We’ve ensured the security after being talked with law-enforcement agencies,” he added. At the presser, it is informed that all the gates of the stadium will be opened for the spectators at 3:00pm. State-own Bangladesh Television alongside private satellite television Channel-9 will live telecast the six-hour-long gala ceremony from the  ground. The opening ceremony will start with the colorful display of the local artists, where the culture and heritage of the country will be exhibited, at 4:30pm. Veteran model-turn-actress Sadia Islam Mou will spearhead the troupe. Popular local musical bands including LRB and Chirkutt, thereafter, will live up the audiences by their famous songs. The singers of Chirkutt led by Sumi will lend their voices at 5:00pm. Their music will go on till 5:30pm. LRB led by prominent guitarist Ayub Bachchu will then rock the stage by his enchanting songs.
Since then, Bangladesh icon folk singer Begum Momtaz will appear at the stage to enthrall the sold-out stadium by his melodious songs. Indian playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, will entertain the audiences by his famous songs. There after, the key-note of the president will be recited at 8:00pm to inaugurate the upcoming edition of the BPL, which is scheduled to kickstart on November 22.
Sri Lanka-born Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez and Hrithik Roshan   will come to the stage to enthrall the present audiences by their artistic skills and technique with songs. At the fag end of the programme, a mega colorful laser show will be exhibited, which will follow the moments of spectacular fireworks.
