‘Inter-University Lit Fest 2020’ held at Stamford University Bangladesh

A two-day ‘Inter-University Literature Festival 2020’, organised by Stamford University Shahitto Forum (SUSF)--a leading literary forum of the university, was held at the university's Siddheshwari campus in the capital on February 6, says a press release.  

About 80 contestants from 10 universities participated in the festival, which featured various literary contests, including recitation, quiz, impromptu speech and short-story writing.

Reciters Dr. Bhaswer Bandopadhyay, Mir Barkat, and chief editor of Kaler Dhoni Emran Mahfuz were present as the judges on the opening day of the festival.

The prize-giving ceremony was held in a festive mood on February 8. Professor Ali Naqi, vice-chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest.

In the closing ceremony, Freedom fighter and drama-film director Nasiruddin Yusuf and eminent poet of Bangla literature Nirmalendu Goon were present as special guests who also took part in a literary discussion followed by a cultural programme.

After the discussion session, prizes were distributed among the participants. The event was co-sponsored by Seven Rings Cement, while Radio Aamar 88.4 FM and Bangla TV were the media partners.

Seminar on ‘Decentralisation in Rural India’ held at JU

BSS, Savar

 A seminar titled ‘Decentralisation in Rural India: Where the Shoe Pinches’ was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus yesterday.

JU Public Administration Department organised the event and its Chairman Associate Professor Dr Jebunnessa presided over at the conference room of the department.

The seminar was addressed among others by former PSC member and Pro- vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Professor Dr M Abul Kashem Majumder and Dean of Social Science faculty Professor Rasheda Akhter.

The Centenary Chair Professor of the Public Administration in the Department of Political Science of the University of Calcutta Professor Dr Prabhat Kumar Dutta presented the keynote paper in the seminar.
