A mobile signal tower of telecom operator Grameenphone on Suhrawardy Udyan premises of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair collapsed yesterday afternoon. There were no casualties reported in the incident. Dr Jalal Ahmed, member secretary of the book fair organising committee, said: “The mobile signal tower of Grameenphone collapsed inside the Suhrawardy Udyan. No one was injured in the incident”. "The tower was installed on a temporary basis to meet the book fair rush. Engineers of the telecom company are working to fix it," Dr Jalal, also Bangla Academy director (Sales, Marketing and Reprinting Division), added. Ayub Mohammad Khan, security officer of the Bangla Academy and in charge of security at the book fair, said, "Although it was not clear yet whether the towers at the fair were risky, all the towers have to be removed now”.
