Bangladesh U19 national cricket team skipper Akbar Ali named captain of the ICC 2020 World Cup team of the tournament after the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced official team of the cricket's extravaganza through its website yesterday.

The ICC picked up the best XI as per the batting order that featured players from five different countries (three from India, three from Bangladesh, two from Afghanistan and West Indies respectively and one from Sri Lanka.) Canada's Akil Kumar earned his place as the 12th man.

Apart from Akbar Ali, two other junior Tigers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shahadat Hossain Dipu also made the final XI.

Akbar, leading from the front, scored 43 runs off 77 deliveries and stayed calm at the crease to help Bangladesh beat India by three wickets in a thrilling summit clash at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom Sunday to lift the country's first ever World Cup title.

On the other side, Mahmudul Hossain Joy scored a total of 184 runs including a brilliant ton against New Zealand in the Super League semi-final while Shahadat Hossain Dipu scored 131 runs with a healthy average of 131 from his six outings with three not-outs.

The official team was selected by an adjudication panel of five, which included commentators Ian Bishop, Rohan Gavaskar and Natalie Germanos joined by ESPN Cricinfo correspondent Sreshth Shah and ICC representative Mary Godbeer.
