Work hard to achieve ‘Vision 2021’: Speakers

Speakers at a discussion yesterday expressed their optimism that Bangladesh would become a middle-income country by 2021 if the present development spree in all sectors continues in the years to come. They said the development programmes carried out in all sectors, including agriculture, industry, power, education, health, investment, food security, social safety net, women employment, environment, information and communication and technology, are remarkable. Besides, mass awareness has been created on women and child rights, birth registration, drug addiction, repression, reproductive health, nutrition, dowry, child marriage, trafficking and launching social movement against terrorism and corruption, they also said.
The speakers, however, called upon all the people to work hard to achieve the ‘Vision 2021’ saying that there were still miles to go to achieve that goal. They further called upon all for sensitising and bridging the people with the information and communication technology (ICT) to ensure their rights to information and getting services easily in the process of realising the ‘Vision 2021’ as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The discussants made the remarks while addressing a views exchange meeting with local journalists at Khulna Circuit House in the city. Divisional Information Office (DIO) arranged the meeting titled‘Charter of Changes: Vision 2021’ to discuss success achieved the present government has being working  for the last six years for the well being of the people.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khulna Md Mostafa Kamal addressed the meeting as chief guest. Regional Director (RD) of Bangladesh Betar, Khulna Md Bashir Uddin presided over the function.  Deputy Director of DIO, Khulna M Zaved Iqbal, Khulna district correspondent of BTV and President of Khulna Press Club (KPC) Mokbul Hossain Mintu, Senior Information Officer of Press Information Department (PID), Khulna Zinat Ara Ahmed, and Khulna based staff reporter of BSS SM Zahid Hossain, among others, spoke on the occasion.
