Theatre troupe Natyachakra will bring its mono-drama (one-person show) titled ‘Eka Ek Nari’ today on the stage of the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital.

Translated by Abdus Selim, from the play of Italian Nobel laureate Dario Fo and his wife Franca Rame, the play ‘Eka Ek Nari’ has been directed by Debaprosad Debnath. This is the 54th production of the troupe.

In the play, Maria, the unique character of this monologue play, embodies the sum of physically, verbally or non-verbally abused women and is the exponent of 2000 years of ignorance and injustice. Important yet unheard issues of oppressed women like marital rape, male gaze, and domestic abuse are brought up through the confession of Maria. Well-known actress Tanima Hamid, daughter of M Hamid, will be seen playing the role of Maria.
