Jahangirnagar University Career Club (JUCC) is the sole career-oriented club of Jahangirnagar University. The necessity of the club was long-felt among the students and teachers of the University. The club was founded in February 6, 2014 with the initiative of the students of Jahangirnagar University. It was established to enrich and broaden the experience of the student community, and to better enable them to build a career. Any JU student can be a member of the club. The theme of the club is “Build thyself, serve the nation”.
The mission of the club is to create career consciousness among the students and introduce its members with the different skills requirements expected in a modern economy. The vision of the club is to produce highly ethical and professional people.
DUCC has been working to create a bridge among students, teachers, administration, alumni and employers. It has been executing the responsibility of making the students career oriented and teaching them the appropriate outlook to work in the corporate environment by arranging a number of career oriented events and by providing practical career counseling.
JUCC aims at working towards JU students’ career development. With the slogan “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” the club started off its activities through an inauguration and fresher reception programme at Zahir Auditorium. The club also launched a website (www.jucc.info/) at the programme. The club accorded fresher reception to fresher students under the session 2013-2014.
The club organises career based events regularly. On Aug 31, 2014 JUCC arranged an event titled ‘Inspire1Million Bangladesh’ at Jahir Rayhan Auditorium, Jahangirnagar University. Professor Dr Farzana Islam, VC, Jahangirnagar University was present as chief guest while Sabirul Islam an young entrepreneur, author and global speaker was present as key note speaker. The events were related to a few subjects such as business/career start up talk, motivational speech, Sabirul’s self-discovery talks, etc.
JUCC organised a workshop titled titled “Mastering the Art of Communication & Presentation” on 22nd November 2014 at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan Auditorium.
JUCC organised the programme with the participation of 150 JU students. JUCC skill development group sponsored the programme. In the workshop, Md. Sabbir Sarkar, language trainer of Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Coast Guard taught about presentation, mastering body language, interview facing and cooperate with the trainees outspokenly. The Facebook page of this club is open for all the students, practitioners, teachers, careerists and whoever likes to build a better career towards the national development.
