Nat’l debate fest begins at JU today

The National Debate Festival - 2020 will begin today on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus in Savar. Jahangirnagar University Debate Organisation (JUDO) is organising the fest for the fifteenth times in a row.
JUDO president Tazrin Islam Tonny made the disclosure of the event at a press conference held at the Jahangirnagar University Journalists' Association office yesterday evening.
JUDO Founding President Abdullah Ahmed Chowdhury Mamun will inaugurate the event as the chief guest, she said. A total of 96 teams from 60 institutes across the country will take part in the festival where Saimum Mausumi Brishti, Farhan Sakib and Sazid Hasan Chowdhury Ovi will conduct the debate sessions as the university, college, and school level coordinator respectively, she added. Press and Media Secretary of the organisation Hasan Mahmud Samrat read out the release at the press meet. The festival will end on February 15.
Int’l Urdu conference held at DU

A two-day international conference titled ‘Urdu Literature in 21st Century’ held on Dhaka University campus.
Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference as the chief guest at RC Mazumder Auditorium of the university on Monday, organised by DU Urdu Department. Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Abu Md Delwar Hossain, Director of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, India Dr Shekh Aquil Ahmad and Chief Patron of Bazme Sadaf International, Qatar Md. Sabih Bukhari addressed it as special guests, with Convener of Conference Organising Committee Dr Rashid Ahmad in the chair.
While addressing, DU VC Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for intellectual interaction among the philologists of various languages to upgrade the country’s education and research. He hoped that this conference would create common platform for researchers and play an important role to enhance the quality of research. Besides the locals, Academicians, researchers, poets and writers from different countries including India, Canada, Germany, England, Norway, Finland, Iran, Qatar, Egypt and Mauritius are participating in the conference.
Spot recruitment programme held at SUB

A spot recruitment programme with Kazi IT Centre (KITC) was held recently at State University of Bangladesh (SUB) on its campus in the capital, says a press release.
The available positions under the recruitment were Management Trainee Officer and Business Analyst. About 100 students of State University of Bangladesh took part in the written examination under the said recruitment programme.
The programme was started with seminar where Abdullah Mashum, Vice President of Kazi IT Centre (KITC) was the Key Resource Person in that session. The seminar session of the spot recruitment programme was presided over by Abu Taher Khan, director, Career Development Centre of SUB. Senior officials of KITC and SUB were also present in the event.
