The beauty pageant Miss Earth Bangladesh was officially launched through a press conference at the Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital yesterday. Naila Bari, National Director, Miss Earth Bangladesh disclosed the details of the contest and highlighted its objectives at the press conference.
The winner of Miss Earth Bangladesh 2020 contest will participate in the Miss Earth international competition which will be held in Manila, Philippines in September 2020.
The Miss Earth pageant is an international environmental event channelling the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool to promote environmental awareness.
From this year’s September, Bangladesh will represent its ambassador to the Miss Earth for the first time. As part of this Endeavour, Miss Earth Bangladesh is being arranged in the country. Triple Nine Global, a Bangladeshi company owned by Naila Bari, got the license for this beauty pageant.
Naila Bari is also National Director of Miss Earth Bangladesh.
Interested participants can register online for free of cost from February 1 to 29 by visiting the contest’s official website, www.misserthbangladesh.com. Following the registration, the participants have to go through rounds of auditions, grooming and filming.
Qualification of the applicants should be natural born female; never been married, single, never given birth; 18-28 years of age (until December 31, 2019); minimum height of 5 feet 5 inches (165.10 cm); posses beauty of face and proportionate body structure; outgoing and friendly; excellent physical condition; has knowledge of her country’s culture and environment, specially on natural energy source, climate changes, pollution.
With the motto ‘Beauties for a cause’, Carousel Productions Inc. organized and launched in 2001 the MISS EARTH Beauty Pageant in Philippine, a beauty event whose raison d’etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth.
Apart from a strong emphasis on environmental protection programs, Miss Earth also aims to showcase and promote various tourist destinations. Every year, 80 to 90 candidates from all over the world compete on beauty and knowledge of environmental issues.
The winner of Miss Earth will serve as the ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide.
